THE DARKNESS LIVE, LEICESTER
Formed in Suffolk in 2000, The Darkness comprises of brothers Justin and Dan Hawkings, Frankie Poullain and Rufus Tiger Taylor. They released their first major album "Permission To Land" in 2003, topping the UK album charts and reached number 36 on the US Billboard 200 that year. Singles off the album include "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", "Growing On Me" and "Get Your Hands Off My Woman", cementing their bombastic, Glam-Rock-Revival style of music and performance.
I had the pleasure of attending their "Easter Is Cancelled" UK tour at the O2 Academy venue in Leicester in December 2019 and I was not disappointed. After all these years the group still have their trademark energy and charm associated with their earlier work, performing their new songs as well as a set of fan favourites, and finishing with an encore of, possibly my favourite Christmas song, Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End).
